A 'WORK IN PROGRESS' as many other paintings lying in my studio. The
pleasure of signing my artwork knowing it is complete is elusive.
It begins with big bold strokes, pushing the creamy paint around with a brush just the way I want. Slowly the work starts looking close to what I have in mind and my strokes become more deliberate. Finally, when I am really close to feeling it is done - I can tell something is wrong. I keep painting and no matter how much I work on it I can't lay down my brush knowing the painting is complete.
I have signed 'DREAM' and it hangs in our living room 'incomplete'.
“Art is never finished, only abandoned.” (Da Vinci) - TRUE DAT!

I love this. Bicycles, especially these "desi" ones are such lovely subjects to paint. Great quote too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vinayak. Bicycles in the Indian cityscape is a nostalgic subject for me..I wish I could paint one 'plen air'
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece! I love the palette, especially that nice pop of yellow at the door! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI really love this bicycle piece, it has such a great pensive mood to it. I think it was very bold to use all the blue and it makes a strong message to the piece. The shadows and movement throughout are wonderful. I'm glad you're back to your drawing board. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteThank you Katherine :)
